Get Cooler
|
On June 7th, only three months after its theatrical premiere, MGM Home Entertainment will release Be Cool, the 2005 sequel to Get Shorty. John Travolta returns as Chili Palmer and is joined by his Pulp Fiction costar Uma Thurman; he's an ex-gangster turned movie exec turned music exec. The film earned back a tad under its production costs at the box office; I expect it to find new life on DVD. The anamorphic video presentation and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track will be supplemented with "Be Cool, Very Cool" Making-of Documentary; Deleted Scenes; a Gag Reel; a Music Video by The Rock as Elliot Wilhelm, "You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man"; Close-Up Featurettes entitled Dance Partners, The Rock, Andre 3000, Cedric the Entertainer, and Christina Milian; and, the Original Theatrical Trailer. The SRP is $27.98.

Double your pleasure with some Double-dips

Also on June 7th, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release Tears of the Sun Director's Extended Cut. One of Bruce Willis' better efforts, it tells the tale of a military team sent secretly into the turmoil of an African country for a dangerous rescue mission to extract Dr. Lena Hendricks (Monica Bellucci). The mission becomes considerably more complicated and considerably more dangerous. Expect an anamorphic presentation Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, and extras that the official MGM press site only describes as Original Featurette, Bonus Trailers, and Filmographies. The SRP is reported to be $19.94.

And also on June 7th, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release an Extended Cut of Bill Murray's Stripes. Eighteen minutes of material have been added to this cut, but little more. There were no supplements on the first release in November of '98 and there don't appear to be any here. Let's hope that seven years later, the technology yields a better transfer. This release will also carry an SRP of $19.94.
