Spaceballs Collector’s Edition, Elektra, and Moonlighting

Do I have to say it? Okay. May the Schwartz be with you.

On May 3rd, MGM Home Entertainment will release an anamorphic, 2-Disc Collector's Edition of Spaceballs, replacing the non-anamorphic and feature-deprived release of August 2001. On this set will be a bunch of extras: Film Flubs; Spaceballs: The Documentary; John Candy: Comic Spirit featurette; In Conversation: Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan featurette; Storyboards To Film featurette; Spacequotes - Clips of famous lines from the film; Spaceballs: The Behind-The-Movie Photos - a stills gallery; Spaceballs: The Costume Gallery - another stills gallery; Spaceballs: The Art Gallery - yet another stills gallery (alright already with galleries already); a feature-length audio commentary by Mel Brooks; an exhibitor teaser trailer with a special message to theatre owners by Brooks; and, the theatrical trailer. Expect a $29.98 SRP.

Ah, so she didn't die after all...

Elektra Box Art

On April 5th, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will release the spin-off from 2003's Daredevil. Elektra will stab your way for no more than $29.98. The DVD promises to be in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, offer both DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio tracks, and include supplements like three deleted scenes, a making-of Elektra featurette, a Comic-Con Presentation, trailers, and an Inside the Editing Room feature. The film was not a favorite of theatrical reviewers or movie patrons, having earned less than $25 million worldwide, but I plan to watch it without any preconceptions.

Bruce Willis thanks you...

Seasons one and two of Moonlighting, the award-winning series that literally launched Bruce Willis' career come to DVD this spring. In a Lions Gate Home Entertainment press release, the distributor announced that it had acquired the home video distribution rights to the 1980's dramedy. Amidst persistent rumors of turmoil on the set, Cybill Shepherd and Willis catapulted Moonlighting to one of the highest rated shows on television during its run on ABC from 1985 to 1989. It'll be interesting to see how well it stands up. We'll offer more details and some cover art as they become available.
