'Troy'; 'Dr. Strangelove,' 'Philadelphia' SEs; 'Tru Calling' debuts
For the Love of Troy - 5:15pm

Yikes, we're already getting announcements for 2005. Just in from Warner Home Video is a January 4th due date for the Brad Pitt hit Troy. Set for release in separate 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen and 4:3 pan & scan versions, each a two-disc set, extras "In The Thick of the Battle," "From Ruins to Reality" and "Troy: An Effects Odyssey" featurettes, the "Gallery of the Gods" CGI interactive tour of Mount Olympus, theatrical trailers and additional easter eggs. Retail will list for $29.95, and Warner will also release a $44.95 two-pack that includes the National Geographic's Beyond the Movie special.

Bombs Away - 5:15pm

It's the return of the double-dip with two new special edition reissues from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.

Due on November 2nd is a two-disc set of Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove, which will be presented in 1.33:1 full screen and Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround. Extras include the new documentary "The Art of Stanley Kubrick from Short Films to Strangelove" and "Inside the Making of Dr. Strangelove" featurette, split-screen interview with Peter Sellers and George C. Scott, an advertising gallery, talent files and production notes. Retail will be $34.95.

Also getting the two-disc treatment on the 2nd is Jonathan Demme's Philadelphia. Remastered in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby 5.1 surround, extras include an audio commentary with Demme, a new documentary, deleted scenes, additional courthouse protest footage and interviews, the Oscar-winning Bruce Springsteen "Streets of Philadelphia" music video, and the theatrical trailer. List price will be $24.95.

Second Sight - 5:15pm

Rounding out today's news is the latest TV on DVD announcement from Fox Home Entertainment. Due on November 30th is the Eliza Dushku sci-fi drama Tru Calling. This five-disc set will boast 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks, plus audio commentary on four episodes, deleted scenes, audition footage, and the "Somebody Help Me" music video by Full Blown Rose. Expect a retail price of $59.95.
