Another massive assault of TV on DVD

Want to Watch Telly? - 12:01am

Capping this week's news, it is another big wave of TV on DVD announcements. The studios and independents have yet to tire of raiding their vaults, and it seems there are enough eager buyers out there that even the most marginal small-screen properties are getting the deluxe treatment.

First up from Warner Home Video on November 16th is the return of Space Ghost Coast to Coast: Volume Two. This two-disc set boasts 4:3 full screen transfers and Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo tracks, plus extended episodes, audio commentaries on each one, Matt Groening interview footage, the original pitch, bonus songs and even an easter egg or two. Retail will list for $29.95. Also due on the 16th is the bizarre Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Volume Three, also in 4:3 full screen and Dolby Digital 5.1, plus audio commentaries on four episodes, a featurette, deleted scenes, music video, script pages, a music video, still gallery and even some bonus answering machine messages. Retail will also list for $29.95.

Also due from Warner on December 14th is Everybody Loves Raymond: The Complete Second Season, which features 4:3 full screen transfers and Dolby 2.0 stereo tracks, plus audio commentary by Romano and creator Phil Rosenthal, deleted scenes and a blooper reel. Expect a list price of $44.95.

Next up from A&E Home Video is Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman: The Complete Fourth Season of October 26th, and The Kids in The Hall: The Complete Season 2 - 1999-2000 on November 16th. While both feature 4:3 full screen transfers and Dolby 2.0 stereo tracks, Dr. Quinn lacks extras, although Kids in the Hall comes loaded with 'em: new audio commentary by the cast, "An Oral History: 15 Minutes with the Kids" featurette, two Season 2 compilations, 30 minutes of never-before-seen TV performances, a poster gallery and filmographies. Retail will be $89.95 for the former and $59.95 for the latter.

More TV fun on the way comes from New Video, who will unleash Profiler: Season 4 on October 26th. Presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 stereo, extras include audio commentary by Roma Maffia on one episode and filmographies. List price will be $99.95.

Last but not least, on November 12th, Paramount Home Entertainment will release Star Trek: The Original TV Series - Season 2. Remastered in 4:3 full screen and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, extras include five new making-of featurettes with all-new interviews with William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and the rest of the original Enterprise crew. But save up those pennies...list price will be $134.95.

Scary Signing - 12:01am

Oops, one more announcement before we end the week. And perfect for a Friday the 13th...a scary DVD signing!
