'Harry Potter' due November; Columbia October titles; John Waters oeuvre
Little Wizard - 7:27pm

Despite its somewhat disappointing box office gross of "only" $250 million, it is wise to remember that it is not the size of the wand but the magic in it. (Ahem.) So welcome Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban to DVD on November 23rd, just in time for the holiday season. Warner Home Video will unleash the Alfonso Cuaron-directed epic (which did earn strong reviews) in separate anamorphic widescreen and pan & scan two-disc sets, each with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks and the usual cavalcade of extras. While the full specs have yet to be announced, nor cover art available, expect behind-the-scenes footage, a new interview with author J.K Rowling and cast and crew, many an interactive activity and theatrical trailers. Retail will list for $29.95. Watch this space for the full press release to come.

In the Closet - 7:27pm

Just in from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, the studio will have just three new releases for consumers on October 5th.

First up is the kid-friendly chiller Cameron's Closet, which includes a full screen transfer and Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo track, plus bonus trailers. Retail will be $24.95.

And also due for release are two new TV on DVD releases, Dawson's Creek: the Complete Fourth Season and What's Happening: the Complete Second Season. Each includes 4:3 full screen transfers and Dolby 2.0 surround and 1.0 mono tracks, respectively. Both include episode synopses, while Dawson's Creek also includes audio commentary by the producers on two episodes, and an interactive trivia game. List price will cost you $49.95 and $39.95, respectively.

Prince of Puke - 7:27pm

Rounding out today's announcements is a cavalcade of perversion from New Line Home Entertainment, who will present the first-ever single disc releases of John Waters' gleefully sick oeuvre. Due on September 7th are standalone releases of the cult favorites Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble, Polyester and Desperate Living (which join the already-available single-disc editions of Hairspray and Pecker). Each includes the same specs and extras as the previous available two-disc sets, and retail will cost you $14.95 a pop. You can't argue with cheap filth, can you?
