Bloody Good Show - 7:43pm

Quentin Tarantino's latest ode to B-movie exploitation, the bloody Kill Bill Vol. 1 will street on April 13th, just in time for the theatrical premiere of the second installment of this cinematic two-parter. Buena Vista Home Entertainment will present the film in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1, plus the "Behind the Scenes with Quentin Tarantino" documentary and trailers. Retail is $29.95, and Tarantino has already revealed in published interviews that a full-fledged box set with both films, jammed with extras, will be released at a later date. Watch this space...

And keep it on the QT and very hush hush, but due on January 27th is a new special edition of Danny DeVito's gangster drama Hoffa. Retail is $19.95.

Retail will be set at $29.95.

Also just announced from Paramount is the Keith Gordon update of the British classic The Singing Detective, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Mel Gibson. Due on March 23rd, the disc includes an anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, commentary by Gordon, and the theatrical trailer. Retail will cost you $29.95. And due on April 6th are three more classics: The Greatest Show on Earth, presented in 1.33: 1 full screen and Dolby Digital mono; The Little Prince, jazzed up in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 2.0 surround; and Half a Sixpence, also in anamorphic widescreen and 2.0 surround. Retail will be $14.95 a pop.

Dead Movie Stars Society - 7:43pm

Rounding out today's news is a speedy DVD debut for the Julia Roberts comedy-drama Mona Lisa Smile, which failed to light up the box office.
