Kicking off today's news is Paramount Home Entertainment's February
new release and catalog lineup. Leading the charge is the David
Spade comedy Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star,
featuring the scariest end title song-montage in cinema history
(you'll know it if you dare to see it). Paramount will release
the flick on February 17th in separate anamorphic widescreen and
full screen versions, each with a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track,
audio commentary by director Sam Weisman and a second track with
Spade and Fred Wolf, four featurettes; nine deleted scenes, and
the "Child Stars On Your Television." Retail will be
$29.95.
Also due on the 17th is an interesting mix of catalog faves and
sleepers: Franco Zeffirelli's Brother Sun, Sister Moon,
a young Keanu Reeves in Permanent Record and
the Neil Jordan remake of We're No Angels. Each
gets a new anamorphic widescreen remaster and Dolby Digital 2.0
surround track (Brother Sun is mono only) and no extras. Retail
is $14.95 a pop.
And also just announced from Paramount is a new Special Collector's
Edition of the perennial classic The Ten Commandments,
starring Charlton Heston. This three-disc set streets on March
9th and includes a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby
Digital 5.1 and 2.0 and mono soundtracks, new audio commentary
by Katherine Orrison, author of "Written In Stone: The Making
Of The Ten Commandments," a six-part documentary, still gallery
and 1956,1966 and 1989 theatrical trailers. Retail will cost you
but a mere $19.95 retail.

Just in from HBO Video is a March 9th release date for John Leguizamo's
directorial debut, the acclaimed boxing drama Undefeated.
This special edition comes complete with a 1.78:1 anamorphic transfer,
Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, a commentary with Leguizamo,
a behind-the-scenes and "Charlando Con-John Leguizamo"
featurettes, and TV spots. Retail will go for $26.95.
Next up is the DVD debut of the long-running erotic anthology
series The Hitchhiker. This steamy cable staple
arrives on March 16th with a two-disc set featuring the series'
first ten episodes, each remastered in 4:3 full screen and Dolby
Digital 5.1. Extras include audio commentaries on five episodes
by such directors as Paul Verhoeven and Phillip Noyce, plus deleted
scenes. Retail will be $34.95.

Rounding out today's news is the arrival of Veronica
Guerin, the 756th film this year to star Cate Blanchett.
Buena Vista Home Entertainment will release the Joel Schumacher
drama on March 16th, featuring a 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby
Digital and DTS 5.1 surround tracks, an audio commentary by Schumacher
and a second commentary with writers Carol Doyle & Mary Agnes
Donoghue, a deleted scene, the "Public Mask, Private Fears"
documentary, footage of the real Guerin speaking to the Committee
To Protect Journalists (with optional commentary), a conversation
with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, a still gallery and trailers.
Retail has been set at $29.95.
