Kicking off this week's news are two new announcements from Buena
Vista Home Entertainment. Due on March 2nd are two recent theatrical
releases that failed to live up to expectations but may get a
second chance on video. The Mike Figgis thriller Cold
Creek Manor, starring Sharon Stone and Dennis Quaid,
gets the anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 treatment,
plus an audio commentary by Figgis, "The Rules of the Game"
and "Coopers Documentary," an alternate ending, and
theatrical trailers. And the Drew Barrymore and Ben Stiller comedy
Duplex also gets an anamorphic widescreen transfer
(along with a 4:3 full screen option) and Dolby Digital 5.1 track,
plus an intro by director Danny DeVito, a featurette, deleted
scenes and trailers. Retail will be $29.95 a pop.

Once an Oscar hopeful, now a box office disappointment, Gwyneth
Paltrow channeled the late spirit of Sylvia Plath in the biopic
Sylvia, due to hit shelves on February 10th from
Universal Studios Home Video. This one is a bare bones release
with no announced extras, only a 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen
transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, filmographies and
trailers. Due a week later on February 17th is the Scott Baio
dramedy A Wedding for Bella, which gets a 4:3
full screen transfer, English Dolby 2.0 surround track, deleted
scenes, filmographies and theatrical trailer. Retail will be set
at $26.95.

Oh, c'mon now, you knew it would happen eventually. Just announced
from Fox Home Entertainment is the DVD debut of the seminal reality
show Cops. Fox will inaugurate the series with a "Cops Wave
One" promotion, which features three "best of"
compilations: Cops: Bad Girls, Cops:
Caught in the Act, and Cops: Shots Fired.
Each is presented in 4:3 full screen and English Dolby 2.0 stereo,
and include 17 minutes of footage "too hot for TV!"
Retail will be $14.95 a shot. Guns 'n' ammo not included.
Not be overshadowed by such a landmark announcement,. Fox has
also unveiled the full details for Runaway Jury,
based on the John Grisham novel. To be released in separate anamorphic
widescreen and full screen versions, each includes a Dolby Digital
5.1 surround track, audio commentary By director Gary Fleder,
deleted scenes with commentary, the "Exploring the Scene"
workshop, no less than seven featurettes, and trailers. Retail
will be $27.95.
