'Cabin Fever' SE; Columbia January titles; 'City of God'
Gore the Merrier - 1:12pm

Ready to infest DVD on January 20th from Lion's Gate Home Entertainment is Eli Roth's $20-million grossing horror gorefest Cabin Fever. This feature-loaded special edition comes complete with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, no less than five audio commentaries(!), the "Beneath The Skin: The Making of Cabin Fever" featurette, "Rotten Fruit" animated shorts by Roth, a "Family Friendly" edit of Cabin Fever, something called "Chick-Vision," a Pancakes! music video and trailers. Retail is $26.95.

Tooth Fairies - 1:12pm

Just in from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment is their January 27th lineup of new, catalog and TV on DVD releases. First up are two recent if little-seen independent dramas. The Secret Life of Dentists is presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1, and includes an audio commentary with director Alan Rudolph, deleted scenes, the Sundance Channel's Anatomy of a Scene special, a gag reel and trailers. the anti-western Gang of Roses comes with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, English and Spanish Dolby 2.0 surround tracks, the "Doblada En Espanol" featurette and trailers. Retail will be $27.95 a pop.

Also making their DVD debuts on the 27th are two more Godzilla favorites, Godzilla Vs. Megaguirus and Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack. Each is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen with English and Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks plus bonus trailers. Retail will set you back $24.95 each.

Rounding out the lineup are three new TV on DVD releases: The Critic: The Entire Series (a 3-disc set) and Dilbert: The Complete Series (4 discs). Each is presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 surround, and The Critic includes audio commentary on eight episodes, the "Creating the Critic" featurette, short "Web-i-sodes," additional featurettes and bonus trailers. Dilbert features a 4 clip compilations hosted by series creator Scott Adams, "Gogbert Speaks - Dogbert Highlights" with intro by Adams, another clip compilation "The Office Politics Handbook" and a collection of Dilbert office humor "The Watercooler." Retail is $49.95 each.

City of Industry - 1:12pm

Rounding out today's news is the February 17th debut of the highly-acclaimed Brazilian epic City Of God (aka Cidade de Deus). Buena Vista Home entertainment will release the critical hit as a special edition, complete with a 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack and the one-hour documentary "News From A Personal War." Retail is $29.95.
