Comic Book Confidential - 10:38pm
Kicking off this today's news is arrival of one of the most acclaimed
movies of the year, the life-imitating-art-imitating-life drama
American Splendor. Warner Home Video will release
the Harvey Pekar biopic on February 3rd. Presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic
widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1, extras include audio commentary
with directors Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer-Berman and selected
cast members, additional interviews with the real Harvey Pekar
and Joyce Brabner, an isolated music-only track, the "My
Movie Year" six-page comic insert, theatrical trailers, hidden
easter eggs and exclusive ROM content including the original website
and screensavers. Retail is $26.95.
Down the Rabbit Hole - 10:38pm
Just in from Paramount Home Entertainment is their January 27th
lineup of new catalog releases. Leading the pack is the poorly-received
Eddie Murphy and Dudley Moore comedy Best Defense,
along with the Greg Kinnear satires Dear God
and A Smile LIke Yours, and Mary Steenburgen
in Pontiac Moon. All are presented in anamorphic
widescreen and, predictably include no extras, not even trailers.
Retail will set you back $19.95 a pop.
Also coming from Paramount are a trio of kid-friendly favorites,
all streeting on February 3rd. Jimmy Neutron: Jet Fusion
includes five bonus episodes and a still gallery; Blues
Clues: Classic Clues features "Blue's School,"
"Something To Do Blue," "Puppets and Rhyme Time,"
"Blue's Poetry Class" game, and "Oobi - The Friend
Who's Always With You!"; and finally Dora The Explorer:
Pirate Adventure offers two bonus episodes, multiple
sing-alongs and a flashcard section. All are presented in 4:3
full frame and Dolby 2.0. Retail will also be $19.95 each.
Just a Girl - 10:38pm
Attention No Doubt fans, the wait is over. A
perennial no show on DVD, at last this L.A. favorite will release
a few groovy platters that are long overdue. In conjunction with
the November 25th release of the band's new greatest hits compilation
The Singles 1992-2003 comes Rock Steady Live.
Recorded in 2002 at the Long Beach Arena, the concert features
17 songs, and extras include additional live footage, band interviews
and a backstage featurette. Retail is $24.95. Also debuting on

set that features the greatest hits CD and Rock Steady Live, plus
two additional DVDs: The Videos: 1992-2003 and Live In the Tragic
Kingdom, a 1997 performance recorded at the Arrowhead Pond in
