Kicking off this week's news is the latest batch of announcements
from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, all streeting on November
18th. From their vast library of television properties comes My
Big Fat Greek Life: The Entire Series, or, how not to
turn a blockbuster movie into a television show. This single-disc
collection features every episode of this short-lived spin-off
presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 surround. Also making
its DVD debut is The King of Queens: The Complete First
Season, a three-disc set that is also presented in 4:3
full screen and Dolby 2.0. There are no extras on either collection
except episode synopses. Retail is $24.95 and $39.95, respectively.
Also set for release from Columbia on the 18th is the sci-fi
drama Marooned, starring Gene Hackman and the
late Gregory Peck. PResented in a new 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen
transfer and Dolby Digital 2.0 surround, extras include filmographies
and a trailer. Retail is $24.95.
Rounding out the lineup is the acclaimed documentaryWinged
Migration, which gets the special edition treatment complete
with anamorphic widescreen transfer, director commentary, making-of
and music featurettes, a still gallery and the trailer. Retail
is $26.95. Last but not least is Akira Kurosawa's final masterpiece
The Sea is Watching, also remastered in anamorphic
widescreen. There are no extras aside from filmographies and trailers.
Retail is $29.95.
Without
Incident - 11:34pm
Just in from Fox Home Entertainment are two new announcements
just in time for the holidays. The last in their line of Fox Studio
Classics for the year, The Ox-Bow Incident stars
Oscar-winner Henry Fonda and debuts on December 2nd. Remastered
in its original 1.33:1 theatrical aspect ratio and English 2.0
stereo, extras include an audio commentary (participants TBA),
the A&E Biography: Henry Fonda" television special, a
still gallery, restoration comparison and theatrical trailer.
Retail is $19.95.
Streeting on November 11th is the foreign hit L'Auberge
Espagnole (The Spanish Apartment), starring Amelie sensation
Audrey Tautou. This double-sided disc features both 2.35:1 anamorphic
widescreen and 4:3 full screen transfers and French 5.1 and Spanish
2.0 surround tracks, plus trailers. Retail is $29.95.

Rounding out today's news is the latest from Anchor Bay Entertainment.
B-Movie fave Neon Maniacs makes its DVD debut
on October 7th, complete with a new 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen
transfer and the original English mono track, plus the theatrical
trailer. Retail is $19.95.
Streeting two weeks later on October 21st is Dead-End
Drive-In, presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and
Dolby Digital 2.0 surround. Extras include an audio commentary
by director Brian Trenchard-Smith, a still gallery and the theatrical
trailer. Also directed by Trenchard-Smith and due on the 21st
is Escape 2000, starring Steve Railsback and
Olivia Hussey. Presented completely uncut and uncensored, extras
include an alternate title sequences, the 24-minute "Turkey
Shoot: Blood & THunder Memories" featurette, a 10-minute
director interview, the original screenplay and the trailer. Retail
is $19.95 a pop.
Last but not least is Hercules: The Legendary Journeys:
Season Two. This multi-disc set includes 4:3 full screen
transfers and Dolby 2.0 surround tracks, audio and video commentary
by Kevin Sorbo and assistant director Wayne Rose, the "Hercules
Chronicles," a still gallery, direct access screens; filmographies,
trivia and a screensaver. Retail is $89.95.
