New Columbia; Criterion trio; 'Last Summer' redux
Deeds, Not Words - 5:45pm

Kicking off this week's news is the latest batch of announcements from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, for a quintet of titles all due on November 11th.

Making its DVD debut is the little-seen Bob Rafelson thriller No Good Deed (aka The House on Turk Street), starring Samuel L. Jackson and Stellan Skarsgard. Presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1, extras include an audio commentary with Rafelson and trailers. Retail is $24.95.

From the Columbia vaults comes the classic thriller The Silencers, starring Dean Martin as "The Original Swinger Agent!", and The Amateur. Both are presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital mono, with extras including filmographies and bonus trailers. More family friendly are The Trouble with Angels and its follow up, Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows, both starring Rosalind Russell. Each is presented full screen and mono, and bonus trailers are the only extras. Retail is $24.95 a pop.

Surreal Life - 7:47pm

Just in from Criterion are a pair of long-awaited new releases due on November 11th. From director David Cronenberg comes his controversial adaptation of William S. Burroughs' classic novel Naked Lunch. Newly remastered in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1, extras will include an audio commentary by Cronenberg and actor Peter Weller, the original EPK, a B-roll montage, two stills galleries, the theatrical trailer, TV spots and excerpts from the novel as read by Burroughs. Retail is $39.95. 

Next up is Fedrico Fellini's La Strada, which took home the 1956 Oscar for Best Foreign Film. Remastered in its original 1.37:1 aspect ratio and Italian mono, extras include a new video introduction by Martin Scorsese, an audio commentary with author Peter Bondanella, the Italian documentary "Federico Fellini's Autobiography," an essay by scholar Peter Matthews and the theatrical trailer. Retail is $39.95.

Get Hooked Again - 7:47pm

Rounding out today's news is the return of the Gorton's Fisherman, whose back for more carnage with the September 23rd reissue of the I Know What You Did Last Summer Collection from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment. Although first announced as a mere repriced and repackaged two-pack of the horror hit and its sequel, this new box set will include a retooled special edition of the first film, complete with a new documentary, short film, still gallery and music video.
