Petty crimes - 10:19am

Originally announced for an August 19th release, Paramount Home Entertainment has bumped Better Luck Tomorrow to September 30th. We've gotten a lot of emails asking about this one, the 1970 version of Scrooge that Paramount will release on September 23rd. This family favorite stars Albert Finney and Alec Guiness and is at last making its DVD debut complete with a new anamorphic widescreen transfer and English Dolby Digital 5.1 remix (the film's original stereo mix is also included.) There are no extras but retail is only $14.95.

Also just released from Paramount is a sneak peek at their October lineup. Leading the top new releases is the summer sleeper hit The Italian Job plus House of Fools and The Original Kings of Comedy. From the vaults comes the original 1969 version of The Italian Job, along with the classics Black Sunday, Lipstick, The Browning Version, Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter, Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell, the SE Hinton favorite That Was Then, This is Now, and - at long last - the 80's adventure Dragonslayer. Additional titles on Paramount's October slate include episodes of the TV classic The Honeymooners, the movie-of-the-week Conviction, and for the family Dora the Explorer: Meet Diego, Little Bear: Feel Better, Little Bear, Jimmy Neutron: Sea of Trouble and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Complete First Season. Dueling Banjos - 10:19am

As if we needed another reason not to get stranded in the middel of nowhere...first Deliverance, then I Spit on Your Grave, and now the DVD debut of The Hills Have Eyes, the notorious Wes Craven cult classic which gets the two-disc treatment from Anchor Bay Entertainment on September 23rd. Featuring a new 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital and DTS remixes, extras include audio commentary with Craven and producer Peter Locke, the new documentaries "Looking Back on The Hills Have Eyes" and "The Directors: The Films of Wes Craven" career retrospective, an alternate ending, still galleries, storyboards, trailers and TV spots and the complete screenplay via DVD-ROM. Have saw, will travel - 10:19am

Rounding out this week's news, another street date change for that Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III Platinum Series edition that keeps getting bumped around by New Line Home Entertainment. With genuine positive buzz beginning to swirl around that Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake which has now been moved back up to an October 17th theatrical release, New Line has moved the Chainsaw III DVD to September 30th. Features and pricing remain the same. The studio will also release a Platinum Series of last winter's dud Willard, starring Crispin Glover in October. Stay tuned for specs...
