Originally announced for an August 19th release, Paramount Home
Entertainment has bumped Better Luck Tomorrow to September
30th. Presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital
5.1 with English subtitles, extras include an audio commentary
with director Justin Lin and co-writers Ernesto M. Foronda and
Fabian Marquez. Retail is $29.95.
We've gotten a lot of emails asking about this one, the 1970
version of Scrooge that Paramount will release on September
23rd. This family favorite stars Albert Finney and Alec Guiness
and is at last making its DVD debut complete with a new anamorphic
widescreen transfer and English Dolby Digital 5.1 remix (the film's
original stereo mix is also included.) There are no extras but
retail is only $14.95.
Also just released from Paramount is a sneak peek at their October
lineup. Leading the top new releases is the summer sleeper hit
The Italian Job plus House of Fools and The Original
Kings of Comedy. From the vaults comes the original 1969 version
of The Italian Job, along with the classics Black Sunday,
Lipstick, The Browning Version, Captain Kronos
Vampire Hunter, Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell,
the SE Hinton favorite That Was Then, This is Now, and
- at long last - the 80's adventure Dragonslayer. Additional
titles on Paramount's October slate include episodes of the TV
classic The Honeymooners, the movie-of-the-week Conviction,
and for the family Dora the Explorer: Meet Diego, Little
Bear: Feel Better, Little Bear, Jimmy Neutron: Sea of Trouble
and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Complete First Season. Watch

It came, it saw, it blew. (That's a compliment.) Hitting DVD
on September 23rd courtesy of Warner Home Video is the latest
Christopher Guest "mockumentary" A Mighty Wind.
Presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and English and French
Dolby Digital 5.1, extras include an audio commentary with Guest
and Eugene Levy, 15 additional scenes, a live TV broadcast of
the concert in the film and the entire climactic benefit show,
additional TV appearances by The Folksmen and Mitch & Mickey,
complete biographies for The Folksmen, The New Main Street Singers
and Mitch & Mickey plus discographies, album art and lyrics, and
even some additional easter eggs. Retail is $27.95.
Dueling Banjos - 10:19am
As if we needed another reason not to get stranded in the middel
of nowhere...first Deliverance, then I Spit on Your Grave, and
now the DVD debut of The Hills Have Eyes, the notorious
Wes Craven cult classic which gets the two-disc treatment from
Anchor Bay Entertainment on September 23rd. Featuring a new 1.78:1
anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital and DTS remixes,
extras include audio commentary with Craven and producer Peter
Locke, the new documentaries "Looking Back on The Hills Have Eyes"
and "The Directors: The Films of Wes Craven" career retrospective,
an alternate ending, still galleries, storyboards, trailers and
TV spots and the complete screenplay via DVD-ROM. Retail is $29.95.
Fox reissues - 10:19am
Fox Home Entertainment will reissue a number of their most popular
two-disc special editions previously placed on moratorium beginning
October 14th. The titles include: The Abyss, Cast Away,
Fight Club, Independence Day, Moulin Rouge,
The Sound of Music and the 2001 remake of Planet of the
Apes. Retail is $26.95 each.
Have saw, will travel - 10:19am
Rounding out this week's news, another street date change for
that Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III Platinum
Series edition that keeps getting bumped around by New Line Home
Entertainment. With genuine positive buzz beginning to swirl around
that Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake which has now been moved back
up to an October 17th theatrical release, New Line has moved the
Chainsaw III DVD to September 30th. Features and pricing remain
the same. The studio will also release a Platinum Series of last
winter's dud Willard, starring Crispin Glover in October.
