Attack of the Cylons - 1:47pm

Fans of classic, cheesy TV sci-fi rejoice! Universal Studios Home Video has just announced 2003 as "The Year of Battlestar Galactica." Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Epic Series will be available for the first time ever on DVD on October 21, 2003, just in time for the December 2003 premiere of The Sci Fi Channel's original mini-series.

This six-disc set includes all 24 hours of the original series, fully remastered in 4:3 full screen and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround (the original mono tracks are also included) plus extras including an interview with series creator Glen A. Larson and series stars' Richard Hatch (Apollo), Terry Carter and Anne Lockhart, a sneak preview of the new SCI Fi Channel remake, and a rebate coupon for $10 off the DVD box set. Retail is $119.95, and Universal will also reprice the currently-available Battlestar Galactica: The Original Movie single-disc DVD to tie-in with the promotion.

Armageddon - 1:47pm

A bomb as big as a giant floating asteroid heading towards earth, last winter's wanna-be disaster mega-hit The Core will hit DVD on September 9th courtesy of Paramount Home Video. This big piece of dumb fun will be available in separate anamorphic widescreen and full screen versions, each with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks plus audio commentary by director Jon Amiel, "The Making Of The Core Visual Effects" featurette, 10 deleted and extended scenes with commentary, and the trailer. Retail is $29.95.

Get lucky - 1:47pm

Just in from Lions Gate Home Entertainment is a September 16th street date for the recent sleeper drama Confidence, starring Dustin Hoffman and Ed Burns. Presented in anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, extras include not one but three audio commentary tracks with director James Foley, the second with Dustin Hoffman, Rachel Weisz, Andy Garcia and Ed Burns, and the third with screenwriter Doug Jung, plus deleted scenes, the Sundance Channel "Anatomy of a Scene" TV special, music videos and trailers. Retail is $26.95.Ê
