Buena Vista fall titles; Cohen cult duo from Blue Underground; 'Irreversible'

Just in from Buena Vista Home Entertainment are specs for a pair of their biggest fall new releases. Debuting just in time for the holidays on November 18th is the blockbuster sequel The Santa Clause 2, once again starring Tim Allen. Featuring THX-certified 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and "family friendly" full screen transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks, extras include a "North Pole commentary" with Tim Allen and Spencer , new "Legendary Figures" interviews, the "Tour of the North Pole" and special effects featurettes, deleted scenes, a gag reel, the Hilary Duff music video, a "Naughty and Nice" set-top game and DVD-ROM E-cards. Retail is $29.95.

Debuting on August 12th is The Lizzie McGuire Movie, starring the now ex-Lizzie Hilary Duff. Featuring both 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and 4:3 full screen transfers plus English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks, extras include the "Behind-the-Scenes of Hilary Duff's New Pop Album," "Why Not?" and "Roamin' Volare" featurettes, deleted scenes with introduction by director Jim Fall, and trailers. Retail is also $29.95.

Killer lizards - 11:03pm

Fans of cult auteur Larry Cohen should mark August 26th on their calendars, as that is when Blue Underground will release two of the the director's best flicks, Q: The Winged Serpent and the sniper drama God Told Me To. Both feature new anamorphic widescreen transfers and 5.1 Dolby remixes, plus audio commentary by Cohen on each release, a still gallery, Cohen bio and their respective trailers and TV spots. The Q disc also includes a ROM-only "Q Memorabilia" supplement. Retail is $19.95 each.

Stress and outrage - 11:03pm

Rounding out this week's news are the details on the August 5th release of the highly-controversial indie h it Irreversible. Lions Gate Home Entertainment will present the film uncut and unrated in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and French Dolby 5.1 surround, plus an audio commentary by director Gaspar Noe, deleted scenes, the "Stress & Outrage" and a special effects featurette, a short film by Noe, a still gallery and trailers. Retail is $26.95.

Also just announced from Lion's Gate for an August 26th release is the Sandra Bernhardt concert film I'm Still Here Dammit!. This bare-bones release will be presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 stereo with no extras, but retail is a mere $14.95.
