'Holes,' 'Osbournes'; Fox issues classic 'Titanic'; Anchor Bay double features

Just in from Buena Vista Home Entertainment are the full specs for the September 23rd release of the hit teen thriller Holes. Featuring THX-certified anamorphic widescreen and full screen transfers and an English Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, extras include two commentaries with the filmmakers and the cast, a making-of featurette, deleted scenes, a gag reel, music video and trailers. Retail is $29.95.

In other Buena Vista news, the studio has set a September 30th street date for The Osbournes: The Complete Second Season. This two-disc set will once again be loaded with extras, and retail is $29.95. Watch this space for more...

In exciting news for horror fans, Anchor Bay Entertainment has just announced the first wave of their Drive In collection, a line of double feature discs featuring a great assortment of cult favorites. Similar to MGM's popular Midnite Movies series, each disc features two movies for the price of one, with new packaging and the same specs as the previous, single-disc releases. The first wave debuts on August 5th and includes: A Blade In The Dark/Macabre, Circus of Horrors/Theatre of Death, Elvira Mistress of the Dark/Transylvania 6-5000, Fade To Black/Hell Night, Hell of the Living Dead/Rats, The Initiation/Mountaintop Motel Massacre, Mountain of the Cannibal God/Cannibal Man, Possession/Shock, Return of the Killer Tomatoes/Return To Horror High, and Society/Spontaneous Combustion. Retail is just $14.95 a pop.

Can you still smell the fresh paint? On September 2nd Fox Home Entertainment will release the latest in their Studio Classics line, the 1953 retelling of Titanic. Newly remastered in its original 1.37 aspect ratio and English 2.0 stereo (the original mono track is also included), extras include a new audio commentary (participants TBA), the "Beyond Titanic" featurette, two MovieTone Newsreels, a restoration comparison, still gallery and theatrical trailer. Retail is $19.95.
