Paramount September titles; Monty Python returns; 'Two Towers' sneek peek

Arriving on September 2nd from Paramount Home Entertainment is CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - The Complete Second Season. Apparently listening to complaints over the full-frame only transfers that graced the first season box set, CBS will release this six-disc set in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with Dolby 5.1 surround tracks plus supplements that include four featurettes ("Behind-the-Scenes,"Make-Up," "Music" and "Special Effects"). Retail is $89.95.

In other Paramount news, the studio has announced their September lineup of catalog titles. Due for release on September 16th is the drama Losing Isaiah, featuring two Academy Award winners, Halle Berry and Jessica Lange, plus the Melanie Griffith comedy Milk Money, Paul Newman in Nobody's Fool, Leap of Faith, I.Q., Campus Man, and Harrison Ford in Regarding Henry. All get the anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 treatment, and there are no extras. Retail is $19.95 a pop.

Paramount has revealed the full specs for William Friedkin's latest The Hunted, which debuts on August 12th. Presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1, extras include a commentary by Friedkin, four featurettes (including "one on knife fighting") and six deleted scenes. Retail is $29.95.

Last but not least, other new Paramount September releases on the way include five new holiday-themed titles including SpongeBob SquarePants: Christmas, Nick Jr. - Oswald: Welcome to the Big City, Blue's Clues: Blue's First Holiday, Nickelodeon: Christmas, and Scrooge. Rounding out the lineup are An Almost Perfect Affair, the direct-to-video Bang, Bang You're Dead, House of Fools, I Love Lucky Season One, Volume 9 and the landmark television miniseries Shogun, starring Richard Chamberlain. ...completely different. Just in from Universal Studios Home Video is a September 2nd arrival for a new two-disc special edition reissue of Monty Python's Meaning of Life. This comedy classic gets a new 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround tracks, an introduction by Eric Idle , an audio commentary, "The Meaning of Making the Meaning Of Life" featurette, deleted scenes, "The Songs" and "Snipped Bits" reels, plus "Un Film de John Cleese Songs," "Unsung," and "Education Tips," filmographies and trailers. Retail is $26.95.
