Fox August new releases; 'Mr. Show'; new Artisan reissues

More new announcements have come in today from Fox Home Entertainment, for a lineup of late summer new releases. First up on August 26th is the recent sleeper comedy Chasing Papi. This one includes both 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and 4:3 full screen transfers on opposite sides of the disc, Dolby Digital English 5.1 and Spanish 2.0 surround tracks, audio commentary (in both English and Spanish) by the director and cast, the "Todo Papi" featurette, "Papi Lite" blooper reel, the Huey Dunbar featurette and the trailer. Arriving a week earlier is The Good Thief, which also features 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and 4:3 full screen transfers on opposite sides of the disc, a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, audio commentary by director Neil Jordan, a featurette, deleted scenes and trailers. Retail is $27.95 each.

Due on August 19th is the first in a new series of "Spacecraft Films," so get ready to blast into the future. This first box set includes The Mighty Saturns, Project Gemini, Apollo 8 and Apollo 11. All are presented in 4:3 full screen only and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, with no extras aside from promos. Retail is $49.95.

Dynamic duo - 12:01am

Attention, Bob & Dave fans, now you can finally complete your collection. On 8/26 Warner Home Video will release Mr. Show: The Complete Third Season. This two-disc set features the entire third season lineup presented in full screen and 2.0 stereo, plus plenty of extras including audio commentaries on all ten episodes with Bob and David and reunited cast and crew, the 30-minute "Best of Mr. Show: Fantastic Newness" documentary featuring new material, the "Drugachusettes" music-only track with score by Eban Schletter, two promos and live footage from Mr. Show at the 1997 US Comedy Arts Festival and 8 TV spots. Retail is just $34.95.

Dracula returns - 12:01am

Rounding out the week's news is a rather interesting batch of titles just announced by Artisan Entertainment. Featuring a few reissues of titles already released on DVD as well as some titles that used to be distributed by other studios, cult and horror fans may find a few of these worth considering. Due for release on August 19th are: Bride of Re-Animator, The Fourth Angel, Fright Night Part II, I've Been Waiting For You, Killing Mr. Griffin, Lair of the White Worm, Rodentz and Linda Blair in the spoof Repossessed. All are presented in full screen only with no real extras aside from trailers, despite the fact that some of these had extras on previous releases. Retail is $14.95 a pop.

Also due for release on the 19th is a special edition of the little-seen gangster drama 29 Palms, starring Chris "Whatever happened to him?" O'Donnell and Rachel Leigh Cook. This one is presented in anamorphic widescreen and 5.1, plus an audio commentary and trailers. Retail is $26.95.
