After her breakout, Oscar-nominated performance in Almost Famous
two years ago, the world has waited...and waited...and waited
for "It" girl Kate Hudson to follow it up with a bona
fide smash hit. And we waited. Finally, she got it this past winter
withHow to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, which surprised everyone
with its gross north of $100 million at the domestic box office.
Now, on July 1st, Paramount Home Entertainment will release the
hit chick flick in separate anamorphic widescreen and full screen
versions, each with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks and plenty
of extras: audio commentary with director Donald Petrie, 5 Deleted
scenes with commentary, the "Mapping Out the Location"
and "Mapping Out the Perfect Movie" featurettes, and
the trailer. Retail is $29.95.

Then mark June 17th on your calendar, because that's when Universal
Studios Home Video will release the sassy comedy Deliver Us
From Eva, available in separate 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen
and full screen versions. Extras include audio commentary with
director Gary Hardwick, the "Delivering Eva" featurette,
deleted scenes, music videos and trailers. Retail is $26.95.

Just in from Showtime Entertainment are two of their recent acclaimed
made-for-cable premiere movies, both making their first-ever debuts
on DVD. Streeting June 17th is the controversial "What if?"
scenario on the JFK assassination, Interview with the Assassin.
Presented in anamorphic widescreen transfer and 5.1 Dolby surround,
extras include audio commentary with director Neil Burger, production
notes with details of suspicious deaths surrounding the Kennedy
assassination, and promo spots. Debuting on July 15th is the heist
drama Lift, featuring an anamorphic widescreen transfer
and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, plus an audio commentary
with directors DeMane Davis and Khari Streeter and promo spots.
Retail is $24.95 each.
Street date alert - 12:47pm
Rounding out today's update is a street date change from Buena
Vista Home Entertainment. To give the George Clooney-directed
biopic Confessions of a Dangerous Mind another shot with
audiences, Miramax will re-release the film in theaters this summer,
and has bumped the original July street date to this September.
No word on an exact date or specs, but stay tuned...
