'Catch Me if You Can'; Adaptation,' more Columbia street dates; Disney classics

Being Leonardo DiCaprio - 12:00am

Skipping its way to DVD on May 6th after a $150 million box office run is Steven Spielberg's frothy Catch Me If You Can. DreamWorks Home Entertainment will debut this two-disc set in separate anamorphic widescreen and full screen versions, each including Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround tracks and plenty of featurettes: "Behind The Camera" (A journey from book to screen), "Cast Me If You Can," "Scoring Catch Me If You Can," "Frank Abagnale: Between Reality and Fiction," "The FBI Perspective," and "In Closing," a still gallery, filmographies, production notes and trailers. There is no retail price set, but MAP will be $19.95.

Being Meryl Streep - 12:00am

The march of the Oscar nominees continues. Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment has just announced a May 20th release for Spike Jonze's predictably loopy Adaptation. Columbia will issue the flick as part of its Superbit line (i.e., a movie with no extras). Presented in anamorphic widescreen, English 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS tracks are included, along with (gasp!) a trailer. Retail is $27.95, and no word yet on whether there is going to be a special edition of the flick in the future, but I wouldn't be too surprised...

Also a part of Columbia's May 20th lineup is the recent Mark Furman docudrama Murder in Greenwich and Avenging Angelo, and from the Columbia vaults, Belle Epoque, Family Business and Beautiful Thing. Stay tuned for specs.

Last but not least are the full specs for Pedro Almodovar's Academy Award-nominated Talk to Her, hitting stores on may 13th. Featuring an anamorphic widescreen presentation and Spanish and French 5.1 Dolby surround tracks, extras include an audio commentary by Pedro Almodovar and Geraldine Chaplin, and trailers. Retail is $26.95.

Herbie lives - 12:00am

Attention fans of classic Disney...there is a respite from all the direct-to-video hype! Mickey is finally digging into his vaults and pulling out some genuine classics. On May 20th, Buena Vista Home Entertainment will release seven great ones, including a couple of first-ever DVD debuts. Titles that are a part of the lineup include The Love Bug and The Rescuers (both new to DVD), Gold Collection reissues of The Aristocats, The Rescuers Down Under, Hercules and Pete's Dragon, and The Rookie. Watch this space for more details...
