After a few fits and starts, on May 13th Warner Home Video will
at long last release a new 2-disc special edition of Roland Joffe's
highly acclaimed The Mission. This 1986 Best Picture nominee
will feature a newly-remastered 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer,
an English Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, audio commentary
by director Roland Joffe, the brand-new "The Making Of The
Mission" 60-minute documentary, filmographies, an awards
list and the theatrical trailer. Retail is $26.95.
Warner will also release on May 13th another film that many considered
a modern classic, This Boy's Life. Marking the first major
role for Leonardo DiCaprio, the DVD will feature a new anamorphic
widescreen transfer and an English 2.0 Dolby surround track, plus
the trailer. There are no other extras, and retail is $19.95.
More May 13th titles from Warner include the classic action adventures
Operation Pacific and Objective, Burma! Each is
presented in their original 1.37:1 full screen aspect ratios and
English mono tracks. Retail is $19.95 a pop.

for Eminem's blockbuster movie debut, 8 Mile. Available
in two separate versions, one with uncensored footage, check out
the release for the full details. Street date is March 18 and
retail $26.95.

Finishing off this week's news is some indie news. Image
Entertainment (http://www.image-entertainment.com)
has announced their April lineup of the weird, the wacky and the
wonderful. Highlights include a new Beautifies & Beasts
Box Set from Something Weird (including such classics as Night
of the Bloody Apes, Feast of Flesh, The Beast that Killed Women,
Monster of Camp Sunshine, Might Gorga and One Million AC/DC).
Other April Image attractions include the imports Millay at
Steepletop, Chinese Chocolate and Merry-Go-Round,
the compilation Benny Hill's World Tour New York, and a
trash triple feature of Olga's House of Shame, Olga's
Dance Hall Girls and White Slaves of Chinatown. And
for you music fans, Image has David Allan Coe: Live at Billy
Bob's Texas, The Wailers Live, Ryan Adams Live in
Jamaica, and making their DVD debut, Heart: Alive in Seattle.
