Continuing their quest to unleash all of their top TV properties
on DVD, Fox Home Entertainment has just announced box sets of
two more fan favorites, The Family Guy and Futurama. Due in stores
on April 6th, The Family Guy: The Complete First Season includes
audio commentary on the episodes "Death Has A Shadow,"
"The Son Also Draws," " Peter, Peter, Caviar Eater,"
"Holy Crap," "Fifteen Minutes Of Shame," "Let's
Go To The Hop," " He's Too Sexy For His Fat" and
"E. Peterbus Unum," plus promo spots. Due a week earlier
on March 25th, Futurama: The Complete First Season boasts
even more extras, including audio commentary on every episodes,
deleted scenes, a featurette, animatics for "Space Pilot
3000," scripts and storyboards for "Space Pilot 3000,"
and an interactive still gallery. Each 4-disc box set features
4:3 full screen transfers and Dolby 2.0 surround tracks, and retail
is $49.95 a pop.
Dead and loving it - 12:00am
At long last, the third in George Romero's famous zombie trilogy
Day of the Dead will finally hit DVD on April 29th, courtesy
of Anchor Bay Entertainment. Featuring stomach-churning gore effects
by legendary effects wizard Tom Savini, this horror classic comes
uncut and uncensored in a feature-packed two disc set. Specs include
a brand-new THX-certified 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer,
remixed Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX and DTS 6.1 ES surround
tracks, an audio commentary with Romero, 2 featurettes, still
galleries, the complete screenplay, trailers, and a collectible
booklet. Retail is $34.95.
For fans just can't wait until the big-screen premiere of The
Hulk this summer, Anchor Bay will release the two classic 70's
TV movies, The Incredible Hulk Returns and The Trial
of The Incredible Hulk on May 6th. Starring Bill Bixby and
Lou Ferrigno, this two disc set features each flick presented
in 4:3 full screen and mono, plus the brand-new "Stand Tall"
documentary, additional Stan Lee and Lou Ferrigno featurettes,
and a booklet. Retail is $29.95.
Announced for a March 4th debut is yet another edition of Sam
Raimi's Army of Darkness (aka Evil Dead III), the two-disc
"Boomstick Edition." Full details have not yet been
released, other than that the set will include both the theatrical
and extended cuts of the film (both previously available) and
collectible packaging. Stay tuned.
For those more into sci-fi than horror, last but not least we
have a new special edition of the Nicolas Roeg classic The
Man Who Fell to Earth due to hit DVD on February 11th. This
two-disc set features a newly-remastered anamorphic widescreen
transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX and DTS 6.1 DTS ES soundtracks,
the "Watching The Alien" documentary, a still gallery,
trailers, and a booklet. Retail is $29.95.
