big fat Greek DVD - 12:00am
Just in from HBO Home Video are specs for one of the biggest
sleeper smashes of all time, the unstoppable romantic comedy My
Big Fat Greek Wedding. Arriving just in time for Valentine's
Day, the DVD is due in stores on February 11th. Features include
anamorphic widescreen and full screen transfers, an audio commentary
with director Ed Zwick and stars Nia Vardalos and John Corbett,
additional footage, and trailers. Retail price of $27.95

Yes, it's finally here! Calm down Madonna fans, her latest cinematic
foray to sink without a trace at the box office is hitting DVD
on February 11th. Billed as "The Most Incredible Love Story
of the Year!" Madge teamed up with hubby Guy Ritchie for
this doomed remake of the Linda Wertmullier classic Swept Away.
Coming fully feature-loaded courtesy of Columbia TriStar Home
Entertainment, this one features a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen
transfer, English and French 5.1 surround tracks, audio commentary
with Ritchie, no less than 16 deleted scenes with optional
commentary, the MTV "Swept Away Movie Special," and
trailers. Retail is $27.95.
Also just announced from Columbia are a number of street dates
for flicks new and old. Due on February 11th along with Madonna
are the recent limited releases Wasabi and The Fast
Runner, plus more catalog favorites including the explicit
drama Bliss, the comedy Living in Oblivion, and
Glory Daze. Hitting shelves on February 18th is the Tom
Green bomb Stealing Harvard and the indie thriller Taboo,
the James Brooks musical-turned-comedy I'll Do Anything,
You Can't Take it With You, and the latest in their Three
Stooges Collection, Stop Look and Laugh. Stay tuned for specs...

Once again rescuing the lost films of a legendary talent from
obscurity, Anchor Bay Entertainment has just announced a new box
set honoring the late, great Peter Sellers. Arriving on January
21st is The Peter Sellers Collection, a box set of six
of the comedian's lesser-known British films: Heavens Above,
Hoffman, The Smallest Show on Earth, I'm Alright Jack, Two-Way
Stretch and Carlton-Browne of the F.O. Each is presented
in a 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and their original
mono tracks, English Closed Captions, and extras including a Peter
Sellers bio, poster reproduction, and trailers. Each is available
separately for $19.95 a pop, except Carlton-Browne of the F.O.,
which is only available as part of the $89.95 box set.
Also arriving on the 21st from Anchor Bay is a new special edition
of the mystery classic Murder by Decree. This Bob Clark
update stars Christopher Plummer, James Mason and Donald Sutherland,
and the DVD features a newly remastered 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen
transfer, the original English mono track, English Closed Captions,
an audio commentary with Clark, two still galleries, talent files,
the trailer, and ROM extras to be announced. Retail is $19.95.

Rounding out today's news, the DVD of the millennium has been
announced...on March 25th, New Media will release Porn Star,
"A penetrating look inside the world of Ron Jeremy, America's
most unlikely sex star and pop-culture hero." This acclaimed
documentary will be released in two versions, an Unrated and R-Rated
versions. The unrated version features a making-of, additional
behind-the-scenes and premiere footage, and trailers. Retail is
$26.95.
