Bloody #@$%! Osbournes! - 12:01am
According to Sharon Osbourne on last night's big interview with
ABC's Barbara Walters, that first season box set of The Osbournes,
originally planned for a holiday release, will finally hit stores
on March 4th. Although Buena Vista Home Entertainment has not
yet released official specs on the set, word is to expect each
episode in its original 4:3 original broadcast aspect ratio, audio
tracks sans all the #$%@! bleeping, and extras including four
bonus episodes and a drinking game! Stay tuned for full specs
and retail price...
Also just sent out to advertisers is Buena Vista's March DVD
catalog slate. Arriving on March 4 is Krzysztof Kieslowski's Red,
White and Blue trilogy (each available separately),
plus Wayne Wang's Smoke and Blue in the Face, and
the horror sequel Stepfather 2: Make Room for Daddy. Also
new to DVD on March 4th are the live-action kid comedies The
Duke, Blank Check, Heavyweights, Man of the House, First Kid
and A Kid in King Arthur's Court, plus the hits Basil,
Gone Fishin', A Low Down Dirty Shame, the remake of
Born Yesterday, Peter Weir's Green Card, Michael
Keaton in One Good Cop, the late Ted Demme's cult comedy
The Ref, and a pre-busted Winona Ryder in Boys.
Retail is $19.95 each, and stay tuned for specs.
Finally on March 4th, Buena Vista will reprice a number of their
top catalog hits to $14.95: East Is East, A Civil Action, Human
Traffic, Color Of Night, Evita, Farewell My Concubine, With a
Friend Like Harry, Priest and The Tall Guy. Repriced
to $19.95 are: Beowulf, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion,
Cider House Rules, Good Will Hunting, Monument Ave., Rushmore,
Flubber, Mighty Aphrodite, Highlander: Endgame, Nixon: The Director's
Cut, Dead Poets Society, Highlander: The Final Dimension, Dead
Man and Bounty Hunters 2: Hardball. These are all simple
reissues of previously-released titles, with no new features or
extras.
A time to kill - 12:00am
Why have just one gun for hire when you can have two? On January
28th, Criterion will add a new double feature to its collection
with two takes on The Killers. This two-disc set features
both the 1946 version by Robert Siodmak and the 1964 update by
Don Siegel. Each is presented in a new 1.33:1 full screen transfer
and English 1.0 mono, and no extras. Retail is $39.95 for the
set.
