Columbia TriStar Oscar winners; Fox holiday cheapies

Wash n' rinse - 12:04am

Just in from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment are the full specs for their January 2003 catalog lineup, featuring three Oscar winners. Leading the pack on January 21st is the controversial 70's comedy Shampoo, which snagged Lee Grant a Best Supporting Actress win. Presented in anamorphic widescreen and full screen with English and French mono tracks, extras are sparse, with only bonus trailers included. Also sans supplements is the Michael Caine and Julie Waters comedy Educating Rita, which netted Waters a Best Actress nomination. Debuting on January 7th, this one features an anamorphic widescreen transfer only, English and French 2.0 Dolby stereo tracks, and more bonus trailers. Also making its first-ever DVD appearance on the 7th (and just in time for Black History Month) is recent honorary Oscar recipient Sidney Poitier's classic Brother John. Presented in anamorphic widescreen and full screen transfers and English and French mono, the film's original theatrical trailer is also included. Retail is $24.95 each.
