Just in from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment are the full
specs for their January 2003 catalog lineup, featuring three Oscar
winners. Leading the pack on January 21st is the controversial
70's comedy Shampoo, which snagged Lee Grant a Best Supporting
Actress win. Presented in anamorphic widescreen and full screen
with English and French mono tracks, extras are sparse, with only
bonus trailers included. Also sans supplements is the Michael
Caine and Julie Waters comedy Educating Rita, which netted
Waters a Best Actress nomination. Debuting on January 7th, this
one features an anamorphic widescreen transfer only, English and
French 2.0 Dolby stereo tracks, and more bonus trailers. Also
making its first-ever DVD appearance on the 7th (and just in time
for Black History Month) is recent honorary Oscar recipient Sidney
Poitier's classic Brother John. Presented in anamorphic
widescreen and full screen transfers and English and French mono,
the film's original theatrical trailer is also included. Retail
is $24.95 each.

Rounding out today's news, Fox Home Entertainment has announced
a sleigh's worth of repricings and new budget line releases just
in time for the holidays. Effective on December 17th, slashed
to a new low price of only $9.95 are over two dozen Fox favorites:
Quills, Inventing The Abbotts, Impostors, Ice Storm, Brokedown
Palace, Rangers, Grand Canyon, Paradise Road, Smilla's Sense Of
Snow, Zardoz, Two Girls And A Guy, Bartok The Magnificent, Norma
Rae, Drive Me Crazy, Ravenous, Silent Trigger, Active Stealth,
Do You Want to Know a Secret, Newton Boys, Slums Of Beverly Hills,
Firestorm, Ping!, Shooting Fish, Cousin Bette, Mom's Outta Sight,
Extreme Limits, Poseidon Adventure, Reckless and Wild, Five Aces
and the atrocious Wing Commander. Making their first-ever
DVD debuts are a number of B-movie and direct-to-video action
thrillers: Red Scorpion, Do You Want to Know a Secret, Hustle,
To Walk With Lions, Jack of Hearts, La Cucaracha, Layover, Lying
in Wait, RPM, Tunnel, Blind Terror, Carnivore, Final Stab, Island
of the Dead, Moving Targets and Road Kill. Unfortunately,
