'Scooby-Doo,' 'Star Trek,' 'Tambien' specs; more exploitation faves from Elite; 'Dark Shadows' set #3; 'South Park' box details

Just in are the full specs for Scooby-Doo, the live-action summer smash that grossed over $100 million at the box office (and counting.) Available in both full screen and anamorphic widescreen transfers, extras include not one but two audio commentaries with the cast and crew, a behind-the-scenes documentary, two featurettes, 10 minutes of "never before seen footage," the "Land of a Million Drums" music video, easter eggs, and ROM extras including 7 interactive challenges. Retail is $26.95 for either version, and note that there has been some retail confusion over the 10/15 street date posted at many retailers, which is actually 10/11 according to the Warner website, a Friday. More Paramount fun - 10:48am

Just in time for the December premiere of the new Star Trek big-screen adventure, Paramount has announced 12/3 and 12/31 street dates, respectively, for Star Trek The Next Generation: The Complete Sixth Season and The Complete Seventh Season. Like the previous sets, look for full frame and 5.1 Dolby surround presentations, featurettes and a list price of $139.95.

Paramount has also just announced an 11/5 arrival for the latest volume of SpongeBob SquarePants: Sea Stories, featuring 9 episodes, plus "Shanghaied" with 3 separate endings and a montage, the "SpongeBob Dancin' Pants" music video, and SpongeBob videogame hints and tips. Retail is $19.95.

And your mother, too - 12:02am

Just in are the full specs for the art house smash Y Tu Mama Tambien, one of the biggest foreign box office hits of all time. Making its way to DVD on 10/22 in R-rated and Unrated versions, the R-rated edition features anamorphic widescreen and full screen versions, a Spanish 5.1 surround track, production notes and a trailer. The Unrated version features the anamorphic widescreen version of the movie only, plus an audio commentary with director Alfonso Cuaron and actors Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, deleted scenes, making-of featurette, the Cuaron short film "Me la Debes," and the trailer. Retail is $26.95 for either version.

Out of the 'Dark' - 12:02am

Two new big announcements from MPI, who is beginning to deliver some highly-requested TV favorites on DVD. Barnabas Collins fans, mark 9/24 on your calendar, when Dark Shadows Set 3 arrives, featuring the next batch of episodes in the world's only vampire soap opera. Each episode is presented in full frame and mono, and extras include a still gallery. This four disc set retails for $59.96.

Then on 10/29 comes The Winds of War sequel War & Remembrance, featuring the entire 953-minute miniseries spread across six discs and presented in full frame and 2.0 Dolby stereo. Extras include the "The Making Of War And Remembrance" documentary, the "War And Remembrance: A Living History" featurette, and interviews. Retail is $129.95 for the set.

Rounding out this week's updates, Warner has finally announced the full specs for South Park: The Complete First Season, arriving on 11/12. In addition to the entire first 13 episodes presented in 4:3 full screen and 2.0 Dolby surround, other treats include intros and audio commentary on every episode by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Jay Leno's South Park guest appearance, the "O Holy Night" and "O Little Town of Bethlehem" music videos, and promo spots. Retail is $39.95.
