Oh, c'mon now, you know this is the one you've been waiting for
for weeks. Buena Vista has just unveiled the full specs for the
drag bomb Sorority Boys, hitting DVD on 10/15. This cinema
classic includes a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby
5.1 surround track, the "All the Angles" and "Boys
Will be Girls"featurettes, and the trailer. Retail is $29.95.
And just in time to piggyback off of the DVD release of the live-action
blockbuster, Buena Vista will release the animated Spider-Man:
The Return of the Green Goblin on 10/29, featuring only a
4:3 full frame transfer and an English 2.0 Dolby surround mix,
and no extras. Retail is also $29.95.
Fox budget bonanza - 12:42am
Cashing in on what is likely to be the biggest holiday buying
season yet for DVD, Fox has announced a huge wave of new box sets,
collections and double-packs just in time for Christmas. On 10/15
comes a wave of double-packs, retailing for $29.95 a pop and just
mere repackagings of the existing releases: Bible, The/ Robe,
Big Momma's House/ Me, Myself, & Irene, Office Space/ Dude,
Where's My Car?, X-Men/Planet of The Apes (single-disc version),
Someone Like You/ Where The Heart Is, Big/ Cast Away, Dr. Dolittle/
Dr. Dolittle 2, Christmas Carol, A/ Miracle on 34th St. (1994),
It's A Wonderful Life/ Miracle on 34th St., Heidi/ Bright Eyes,
Home Alone/ Home Alone 2, Dunston Checks In/ Baby's Day Out,
and the single-disc releases of Independence Day/ The Abyss.
Also on 10/15 comes a big bunch of box sets: Arnold Schwarzenegger
Collection (Commando, Predator, and Artisan's The Running
Man and Total Recall, $69.96), World War II Collection
