X marks the spot - 12:04am
It didn't exactly scare up much profits at the box office, but
Jason X - the tenth in the loooong-running Friday the 13th
franchise, will probably find a better fate on video. New Line
is certainly pulling out all the stops with the DVD, which will
be a big Platinum Series release, the kind of special edition
fans of the series have been clamoring for. Hitting stores on
10/8 with a list price of $26.95, this one includes a 1.85:1 anamorphic
widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital and DTS surround tracks, an
audio commentary with director Jim Isaac, writer Todd Farmer and
producer Noel Cunningham, two new original featurettes "By
Any Means Necessary: The Making of Jason X" and "The
Many Lives of Jason Voorhees" on the history of Jason, "Jump
to a Death" feature with "Random Kill" and "Kill
All" buttons, theatrical trailers, and DVD-ROM content including
the "Script-to-Screen" feature, the original theatrical
website and weblinks.
Also debuting is Jason Goes to Hell, aka The Final Friday.
While not a true Platinum Series edition, it does have some cool
features of its own. Presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen
with only Dolby 5.1 and 2.0 surround tracks, extras include both
the R-Rated and Unrated cuts of the film, a new audio commentary
with director Adam Marcus and screenwriter Dean Lorey, "Jump
to a Death" access, and the trailer. Retail is $19.95.
