'Back to the Future' final specs; Paramount honors 9/11, 'Grease' art

The Power of Love - 12:03am

It's hardly a surprise to anyone, but Universal has, finally, officially announced Back to the Future: The Complete Trilogy, hitting DVD on 12/17. While nothing here will shock anybody, it's always nice to have the official press release with all the specs. Enjoy, and only 178 shopping days until Christmas...

More of the word that you've heard - 12:03am

From the "How to capitalize on a tragedy" department (am I the only one turned off by all these 9/11 "tributes" popping up lately?) comes 9/11: The Filmmaker's Commemorative Edition. Originally broadcast earlier this year on CBS, this documentary by award-winning French filmmakers Jules & Gedeon Naudet started out as a movie about a rookie NYC fireman but ended up filming the tragedy. Street is 9/10, just one day before the one-year anniversary, and retail is $29.95. Also arriving on 9/17 is the holiday compilation Nick Jr. Holiday, featuring four holiday shorts: Blue's Clues: Blue's Big Holiday, Dora The Explorer: Dora's Christmas!, Merry Christmas, Little Bill, and A Rugrats Christmas. All are presented in full frame and 2.0 surround, and retail is $19.95.

Ending this week in Disc News, here's a couple of final images for you, box shots of the widescreen and full frame (complete with songbook) editions of Grease, finally hitting DVD on 9/17. Click an image for a blowup, and cool that they kept the original ad concepts. Can't wait until September!
