'Panic Room,' 'Jason X' street dates; Warner teams up with Eagle Rock, 'Young Ones' set from BBC

Street date alert - 12:23am

A rather slow news day today, but we do have a few new street dates to tide you over. Columbia has just announced a 9/17 street date for last winter's smash thriller Panic Room, starring Jodie Foster. Although no specs have yet been revealed, this one is slated to be a special edition, so watch for the full details in the next couple of weeks...

Coming on 10/8 and just in time for Halloween are - at long last! - New Line's two entries in the venerable Friday the 13th franchise, Jason X and Jason Goes to Hell (now sans "The Final Friday" subtitle). Aside from the fact that "The Final Friday" was a big cheat anyway (and fans already fell for "The Final Chapter" once before), these will be the last two Jason flicks to finally make it to DVD and should put their Paramount counterparts to shame. Only Jason X will be a full-fledged Platinum Series and both should have plenty of new extras, so watch this space for further details...

And in even more street dates, Universal will bow the Frankie Muniz comedy Big Fat Liar on 9/24, Buena Vista has the foreign import Accidental Spy on tap for 8/13, and Star Trek The Next Generation Season 5 debuts on 11/5. Yet again, stay tuned...

Warner, meet Eagle Rock - 12:23am

In a big press event held last week at the legendary House of Blues in Los Angeles, Warner Home Video announced a new long-term partnership with one of industry's premiere programmers of live concert performances, Eagle Rock Entertainment. Sure to make music fans happy, Warner and Eagle Rock plan an aggressive slate of new releases, beginning with the 9/3 debut of Janet Jackson: Live in Hawaii. Check out the full press release for the details, and stay tuned for news on future releases.

In other Warner news, on 9/17 they will release a new BBC box set of The Complete Young Ones, the popular cult British comedy series. Full specs have not yet been announced, but the set is slated to include every episode and plenty of extras, all for a list price of $59.95. Stay tuned...
