Under
a blood red 'Sky' - 12:10am
There's plenty more titles hitting shelves on 9/3, all courtesy
of Warner Home Video. Making their long-awaited DVD debut are
a number of adult dramas: Barfly, Enemies: A Love Story, The
Ninth Configuration, 1990 remake of The Sheltering Sky,
Deja Vu, The Wanderers and Gypsy Moths. Each
features a new anamorphic widescreen transfer with English and
French 2.0 surround tracks, plus filmographies and trailers (Sheltering
Sky also includes a featurette). Retail is $19.95 each.
Also arriving on 9/3 are a number of family favorites new and
old alike. The Oscar-winning classic The Yearling makes
its DVD debut in a newly-restored transfer in its original 1.37:1
theatrical aspect ratio and a 5.1 surround mix, plus filmographies
and the trailer. Up next is the recent theatrical release Alaska,
presented in anamorphic widescreen and full screen versions, with
English and French 5.1 surround tracks and extras including a
featurette, filmographies and trailers. Last but not least we
have the animated versions of Oliver Twist and Treasure
Island, The Amazing Panda Adventure and Little Big
League, presented in full frame only with 2.0 surround tracks,
trailers and filmographies. Retail is $19.95 each.
In scary TV news, on 9/3 Warner will release yet another South
Park best-of collection, Ghouls, Ghosts and Underpants
Gnomes. Another batch of 4 themed episodes, extras include
a promo and retail is $19.95. Hitting shelves a week later on
9/10 is - yes, I'm not kidding - The Best of The Bachelor,
that television show that disguises d prostitution as a marriage
proposal. Presented in anamorphic widescreen (the show was shot
in HD, believe it or not), retail is $19.95. Shudder.
