The Video: How Does The Disc Look?
As was the case with last season's set, these 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers are really quite strong (for those with appropriate players, I bet this set’s Blu-ray release is even more vibrant). Finely grained detail is nearly air-tight. There’s a bit of noise in the background in certain nighttime shows, but for the most part, clarity is maintained excellently. These presentations also balance accurate flesh tones and punchy saturated hues with equal presence, and black levels are wonderfully thorough and consistent. Well done.
The Audio: How Does The Disc Sound?
These Dolby Digital 5.1 EX sound mixes are less impressive than their video counterparts, but they nevertheless do their jobs well. Dialogue stays distinctly in the front channels. Music and the occasional atmospheric are really all that enter the surround sphere. The bottom end never seemed to come to life. But all the elements are preserved clearly and make for an overall engaging soundtrack experience.
A simpler English 2.0 mix is included, as are English and Spanish subtitles and English Closed Captions.
