Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Live - DVD
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Live - DVD

The rock and roll luminaries on this set are undisputed: Whether you're a particular fan or not, there's no denying that without bands like Queen, The Who, The Doors or AC/DC (to name but a few), modern rock just would be what it is. And what The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Live DVD collection does is pay tribute to some of rock's most notable performers by showcasing nearly twenty-four hours of kick-ass music.

The issue, though, is the savvy of this collection. Don't get me wrong - any music fans will waste hours in front of this thing - but this writer found the all-over-the-place, non-chronological compilation of this box set to be a pain. The music is great across the board, but The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Live jumps back and forth in time to a point where it's hard to keep up with it. From recent performances to songs sung at the first ceremony in 1986, you never know exactly what's coming next in this box set, and while there's a degree of fun to that on a first viewing, as a fan, I would have preferred that things were sequenced chronologically.

But that's the way it is, and even so, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Live is an undeniable piece of work - a real slice of catnip for anyone who's ever sung along with "Sweet Home Alabama". Here's the disc-by-disc lineup of presenters and performers:
