Video: How Do The Discs Look?

Well, not great. These pictureboxed 1.33:1 transfers are sub-par, even by Eclipse standards. The transfer prints are riddled with scratches and examples of dirt and grime, and strobing is defiant and consistent issue. Finely detailed textures suffer as well - all four films are saddled with some serious smear - and black levels, while relatively even all the way through all films, err to the grey side of things. As an understatement, this writer would urge fans of these pictures to lower expectations before popping these babies into their players.

Audio: How Does The Disc Sound?

While perhaps a smudge better than their video counterparts, these mono sound mixes aren't exciting in any way. These are movies saddled with distinct trappings of vintage mono, so there's no way around the crack and hiss that mono afflicts on the movies' soundscapes. But these aren't exactly grandiose David Lean spectacles - the simple sound mixes serve the films well. Dialogue comes through fairly well, though there are a few inconsistences here and there, and the films' music has exactly the kind of oomph you'd imagine. Not great, but not bad, either.

English subtitles are included.
