Video: How Do the Discs Look?
The only significant reason to experience a movie like The Great Gatsby is to fall victim to its unendingly aggressive visual ambitions, and these are represented on this 2.40:1 1080p transfer breathtakingly. Every shining element of the movie’s design comes to high-def with almost impossible clarity: even super nit-picky home theater geeks will give up looking for major flaws early. Color accuracy is wonderfully maintained, detail accuracy is sharp and clear, and there are no examples of compression artifacting to be found anywhere. Reference-quality all the way.
Audio: How Do the Discs Sound?
You’re going to want to keep your volume remote handy – The Great Gatsby’s sound design is heavy on music and effects and light on cleanly-mixed dialogue – but this is nevertheless an amazingly fun DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix. At high volume, this track bristles with pitch-perfect high- and low-ends, surrounds are constantly at work, and the movie’s throbbing musical presence is a wonder to behold. Like the movie itself, this lossless affair isn’t the most elegant track ever authored to Blu-ray, but it nevertheless makes for a fun party.
French, Spanish, and Portuguese Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mixes are included, as are English SDH, French, Spanish, and Portuguese subtitles.
