Video: How Do the Discs Look?
Last Resortprobably looked nicer during its high-def broadcast run, but these 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers on DVD nevertheless look just fine. Color accuracy remains sturdy and well-balanced throughout, black levels are consistent, and detail accuracy is pretty darned strong for the format. Fans of the short-lived series should be content here.
Audio: How Do the Discs Sound?
The Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mixes afforded Last Resort’s episodes are also completely capable affairs. Sometimes dialogue gets bullied out of the foreground a bit during overloud action sequences, but surrounds kick in early and often, and the overall mood of these tracks provide an immersive, panoramic experience. They’re not perfect, but they serve the show nicely.
Spanish Dolby Digital tracks are included, as well.
