Video: How Does the Disc Look?
Presented in 16x9 anamorphic widescreen, How to Survive a Plague looks terrible, but that’s how it’s meant to come across. Almost exclusively populated with consumer-grade camcorder footage from the 80s and 90s, clarity, color accuracy, and black level consistency are nowhere to be found, but that’s kind of the point. Technically, this presentation is free of compression artifacting and banding, so I guess there’s that. Rest assured: this is how Plague is supposed to look.

Audio: How Does the Disc Sound?
The surround elements of this Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mix don’t pop into action all that often, but this is a front-heavy, man-on-the-street doc, so there really isn’t much need for them. Again, like its video counterpart, there perhaps isn’t much technical sheen to this track, but it absolutely presents its archival footage as cleanly and authentically as it can.
English SDH and Spanish subtitles are included.
