Video: How Do the Discs Look?
This is a miniseries from the mid-1970s, so expectations should be low, but even so, these 1.33:1 transfers are just okay. Color quality sometimes has a nice, firm feel to it, but detail accuracy is all over the place, with many sequences here being subject to significant smear. There are also a few instances of compression artifacting to mention, and black levels are never quite as consistent as they should be.
Audio: How Do the Discs Sound?
The Dolby Digital 1.0 tracks on this set fare a bit better, but they’re still in need of an upgrade. Dialogue is hissy and crackly, but that’s kind of the way it goes with material like this, and the miniseries’ musical score has a thin majesty to it, as well. As long as you know what you’re getting yourself into, you’ll be fine.
English SDH subtitles are included.
