Video: How Do the Discs Look?

Not a lot of cleanup has been put into massaging Matlock onto DVD - these 1.33:1 transfers are maybe a slight step up from being syndication grade. Color accuracy is hazy and not clearly defined, black levels are neither fully dark nor consistent, and detail wavers in quality dramatically from scene to scene. The transfer prints are relatively clean, I suppose, and compression artifacting doesn't show up all that often, but even so - these are ho-hum transfers all the way.

Audio: How Do the Discs Sound?

The two-channel sound mixes on this set definitely leave a lot to be desired. Dialogue is tinny, music is scratchy and overloud - if the video presence of Matlock on DVD is standard fare, these simple tracks are a step down. Don't get your hopes up.

English SDH subtitles are included.
