Die-hard French Stewart fans will be the only ones able to stomach this braindead spoof....

Fox / 80 Minutes / 2013 / Rated R / Street Date: January 15, 2013

Yet another woefully unfunny quickie spoof, 30 Nights of Paranormal Activity With the Devil Inside the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is hardly worth the ink of its Fiona Apple album title length. It'll definitely help if you have experience with all the films this satire cites, but not by much - this is another one of those surface-level comedies that has way too much of a production budget than it should.

The setup of Paranormal Activity is most utilized here: a couple moves into a new house and ghosts become only one of a handful of issues for them. They've adopted a Lisbeth Salander lookalike high school kid saddled with ennui, llamas pop up in the living room for no reason, a couple hot chicks lather each other up in the shower - anyone who has watched movies like this one knows what to expect.

Its R rating has the potential to help, but even that ends up flatlining. We absolutely get some nakedness - always welcome in an otherwise pointless picture like this one - yet while the men in 30 Nights dress up in tutus and are the subject to semen joke after semen joke, when it comes to their turn to drop trou, the movie blurs them out. This is not to say that seeing the ween is objective number one here, but the scene in which a guy bangs his wife while she has a ballgag in her mouth and he's carrying a leaf blower would definitely be enhanced by some good, old-fashioned embarrassment nudity.

So, like a Scary Movie without those flicks' one-time-out-of-twenty-five success in comic timing, 30 Nights feels twice as long as its eighty minute running time. I'll be the first to sing the virtues of a movie with a well-placed fart joke and some jiggling funbags thrown in for no good reason, but the best thing this spoof has going for it is an extended French Stewart cameo.
