"You know what? I wrote that list when I was insane with smartness...."

Enthusiasts who already know of Adventure Time’s loopy charms can return to the episodes on this Complete Second Season and enjoy its zaniness again and again, but even for newcomers like me, it’s very fair to say that there is good stoner fun to be had here. This is the kind of animated show that you can’t even get through synopsizing without sounding like a blissed-out moron, but who gives a shit? This thing is funny.
Finn and his dog Jake (Jake has enhanced magical powers) embark upon adventure after adventure here – hence the title of the thing – and they hang out with folks like Princess Bubblegum and the Ice King. Describing the specifics of these characters or their realms would dampen the fun of just having them sprung on unsuspecting viewers, but let it be said that Adventure Time’s journeys are bizarr-o treats, half-hour installments that provide dingbat, out-of-left-field treats.
As with all stoner TV, it should come as little surprise that Adventure Time: The Complete Second Season isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but I’d wager that anyone who’s gone out of their way to watch a Simpsons episode more than once will find merit here. Consistency isn’t paramount on this TV-on-BD compilation – let’s just say the episode “Crystals Have Power” isn’t this set’s crowning moment – but this newcomer chuckled through this edition with dumbass glee. Now I’m a believer.
