Video: How Does the Disc Look?
Soderbergh movies are reliably technically strong on Blu-ray, and Side Effects is no exception. The movie showcases its digital sheen with excellent consistency: detail quality, color accuracy, and black levels are all handled with sharpness and punch, lending the movie a pristine quality that really impresses. Compression artifacting isn’t an issue, aliasing and banding also don’t pop up – totally strong.
Audio: How Does the Disc Sound?
And this DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix is even better than the film’s video presentation on this disc. Dialogue sounds clean, but the overall ominous qualities of the movie’s darker elements are what truly knock you out. Music, atmospherics, effects – everything here is handled with wondrous fidelity and steadiness. Excellent on all fronts.
English SDH, French, and Spanish subtitles are included.
