Video: How Does the Disc Look?
Universal gives some impressive sharpness to A Haunted House’s 1080p transfer here – the movie may be atrocious, but it looks great! Detail quality is sharp across the board, black levels are inky and consistent, and color accuracy seems authentic and well-balanced. There are instances of aliasing and banding here and there, unfortunately, but compression artifacting is kept to a minimum. No major complaints.
Audio: How does the Disc Sound?
The DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix on this Blu-ray Disc is sometimes impressive, but mostly just too aggressive for its own good. Music cues are woefully overloud – keep that volume remote close – but dialogue is audible, and surrounds kick in nicely every now and then. All in all, this lossless track could probably be finessed a bit, but as it stands, it suits the movie fine.
English SDH, Spanish, and French subtitles are included.
