Video: How Does the Disc Look?

The 1.85:1 1080p transfer here is capable, but by no means definitive. Detail quality is sharp, but never as punchy as it seems like it should be, and while black levels are consistent throughout, color accuracy ebbs in and out from sequence to sequence – some scenes look beautifully controlled, while others simply seem a bit off. But it’s never enough to disengage from the movie: call this presentation solid, but not quite up to snuff.

Audio: How Does the Disc Sound?

The DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix here is simple yet wholly effective. Dialogue is always crisp and clean, and atmospherics feel lush and lived in – one definitely experiences a sense of place while hearing A Simple Life unfold. Fidelity is dynamic, high- and low-ends come through nicely, surrounds add to the movie’s overall tone – this is a fine, fine track.

English subtitles are included.
