Video: How Does the Disc Look?
Frankenweenie as a film is a lost cause, but this 3D 1.85:1 1080p presentation is nevertheless reference-grade. The 3D elements of the transfer are handled marvelously, with space and depth really adding to the overall experience of the movie's visual palette. And - as evidenced by the also A+ 2D 1080p transfer here - contrast and detail are superbly maintained on this presentation. No compression artifacts, no manifestations of aliasing or banding - absolutely top-of-the-line.
Audio: How Does the Disc Sound?
The DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio track included on Frankenweenie's 3D BD debut is also state-of-the-art. With the movie's swirling musical score represented perfectly, the mood and feel of the bizarro animated film is crystalline on this lossless track. Dialogue is always audible, fidelity is wonderfully dynamic, surrounds are in constant action - if only the motion picture itself were half as accomplished as this track....
French DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks are included, as are English SDH, French, and Spanish subtitles.
