Video: How Do the Discs Look?
Mankind comes to Blu-ray with 1.78:1 1080p transfers that are, for lack of a better term, pretty darned cool. There's a lot of manipulation at hand here - it seems like every sequence has been tweaked with some kind of digital zip - but color accuracy seems to be authentic, and black levels are consistent from start to finish. Detail is also impressively strong, with textures really popping off the screen. There are maybe a few instances of aliasing that need to be mentioned, but it's not enough to sour these presentations too much.
Audio: How Do the Discs Sound?
The DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mixes here are equally notable. Music has a particularly robust feel on these lossless tracks, and surrounds kick in with immersive effect. Atmospherics are also presented effectively, and high- and low-ends are preserved nicely. No major complaints.
