Video: How Do the Discs Look?

HBO is almost entirely reliable when it comes to A/V quality on their TV-on-BD sets, and Girls is no exception. As awful as the show can be, it is never less than wonderfully vivid in terms of video quality: this Complete First Season showcases exemplary detail quality, steady color balance, and black levels that are notably inky and steady throughout. Compression artifacting and aliasing are also non-issues.

Audio: How Do the Discs Sound?

Again, these DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mixes are state-of-the-art. The show's mumblecore dialogue is always audible and crisp, and atmospherics and music vie in surround channels to wonderful effect. These lossless tracks aren't the most adventurous affairs around, but there's no question that Girls couldn't sound much better than this.

French Dolby Digital 5.1 and Spanish Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks are included, as are English SDH, French, Spanish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish subtitles.
