Video: How Does the Disc Look?

This original Man Who Knew Too Much has been included on so many low-rent VHS and DVD collections that it was actually quite shocking to me how amazing it looked in high-def. This 1.33:1 1080p transfer isn't perfect, of course, but for a film of this age, Criterion has knocked it out of the park. Contrast is handled deftly, black levels are sturdy and steady, and detail quality is wondrous, lending all textures a well-balanced punch. Grain is also dealt with in superb fashion - the movie takes on an old-fashioned glow that suits it to a T.

Again, this LPCM mono track isn't exactly the kind of thing you impress your neighbors with, but as far as preserving The Man Who Knew Too Much's original shape, this lossless presentation nails it. Dialogue is audible, music comes through nicely - what a wonderful high-def track...

English SDH subtitles are included.
