Video: How Does the Disc Look?
Here's the deal: Total Recall as a technical experience on Blu-ray is staggering. The 2.40:1 1080p transfer here is profoundly beautiful, presenting the movie with sharp, pristine steadiness. Detail quality is wonderfully vivid, color accuracy adheres to the movie's overall visual design with steady clarity, and black levels are inky from start to finish. Compression artifacting is never an issue, aliasing and banding are nowhere to be found - this is a helluva transfer.
Audio: How Does the Disc Sound?
...and the Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound mix here is even better. Throwing every bell and whistle they can at us, the sound wizards behind Total Recall have built an impossibly immersive lossless experience here, with music and effects jousting marvelously for our attention. Fidelity is wonderfully dramatic and dynamic, and surrounds are nearly constantly in use. A kick-ass presentation across the board.
French and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mixes are included, as are English SHD, French, and Spanish subtitles.
