Neil Patrick Harris and Stephen Colbert singing and dancing on the same stage - who would have thought....?

This version of Stephen Sondheim's iconic 1970 musical ran just for just four performances. This wasn't due to bum ticket sales or anything like that - Company as it appears on this Blu-ray is a who's who of high-profile television personalities: it's not just star-studded, it's impossibly so. Broadway is a place where Julia Roberts and Hugh Jackman stage regular returns, so it's not just star power that shines here: it's how these stars play together.
At the center is everybody's favorite, Neil Patrick Harris, singing and dancing like a madman, proving that he is no mere supporting TV jokester. With the gravitas and presence of a seasoned Broadway vet, Harris anchors Company with assured force. Then, look left - it's Stephen Colbert! Look right - it's Martha Plimpton! This thing has familiar faces all over it!
Not surprisingly, one's enjoyment of Company in high-def will depend extensively on one's capacity for show tunes and stage plays. Image has done a great job capturing the show's episodic grace, so if you can't see Company in an actual theater this year, this facsimile will do just fine. And seriously - if you've got a crush on NPH, this should scratch the itch real well. Dude can SING!
